An uneven surface with pits or waves may reflect low zinc, calcium, or vitamin A, or point to eczema or psoriasis. Small dents or rolling ridges are classic in psoriasis and often track disease intensity. Alopecia areata and lichen planus can do the same. Good grooming helps prevent added trauma, but care usually targets the root condition more than the nail change itself.
